You know you've picked the sketchiest possible research topic when:

You poke through the shelves in the library until you find the book you were looking for, "Japanese Love Hotels: A Cultural History" by Sarah Chaplin. Then you open it up to the index and think 'shoot, what's the word for when people like little boys...right, shotacon'.

P.S. I'm going this afternoon to speak with my prof about this paper, and it's going to be HILARIOUSLY AWKWARD.

Guys. I just made the crudest joke ever.

SO I'm writing a review essay to prepare for my paper about homosexuality in Tokugawa Japan for HIST 318 (Asian History), and I note that even though one article is written by an institutional historian who is like OMG I LOVES THE CAPITALISM and the other is by a social historian who is like WTF PEDERASTY EVERYWHERE OH HAI PEDOBEAR, both argue that homosexual practices started with the social elite and then diffused into the lower classes. So I'm done the paper, and all it needs is a title.

I title it: Homosexuality: From the Top, or From the Bottom?

You were a child
Crawling on your knees toward it
Making momma so proud,
But your voice is too loud

We like to watch you laughing,
You pick the insects off plants
No time to think of consequences

...ugh, today was a complete and absolute failure. Hopefully I'll be able to rally tomorrow, because right now I'm quickly on the way to failing at everything forever.

BUT yesterday night was Anime Club and it was kind of awesome, and today I hung out with [info]valinor_sunrise and that was kind of really awesome. So when I fail at everything, at least I'll have seen Higurashi and eaten crepes on a rainy Saturday.

Happy 300th day of the year, flist!

*confetti*

I only know this because of [info]365drabbles. I'm in the home stretch! *more confetti*

Today's fic idea was totally stolen from [info]cruxis.

Also, welcome [info]littlelinor

RANDOM SIDE NOTE: So for CWRI 293 we have to send in short stories to be workshopped in class, which for me is more like writing short stories to be workshopped in class because I don't really write original fic. because I'm a fantard who only writes fanfic. SO I was trying to come up with an idea for a piece of fiction and I'm like SCREW THIS, and took a bunch of Zelda drabbles I've written for 365, changed the names, and was like THIS IS KIND OF AWESOME AND HILARIOUS IN A SAD SORT OF WAY.

...In my defence, it was more like I took two Zelda drabbles and one Fire Emblem drabble (BECAUSE THE WORLD NEEDS MORE OF [info]kanthia's MUMBLINGS ABOUT TOASTED TOFU CAEK) and wrote the rest of the story around them. BUT. Hey, it's not like Link has a character, right? Right???

So, for the first time ever, I took a sanity day today. Totally didn't think about work and tried to chill out.

Yeah, I have seven million things to do tomorrow...but I feel a ton better. Except for the fact that I'm shivering uncontrollably right now, which I'm starting to get a little concerned about.

Also: best new icon ever.

WHY DOES TIME GO BY SO QUICKLY

...Yeah, stuff's been okay. Right now my Ridiculous Fixation (c) is 'unproductive leisure time'...the problem being, of course, that even if it's 'productive' (like playing a video game or what), if I find it fun then time goes by quickly while I'm doing it and it becomes 'unproductive'. Standards!

In better news, I made the Dean's List! \m/

Went on a field trip into Toronto today to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and get a tour of Jewish Toronto. It was pretty neat, but the ROM was super super crowded. I can't believe how well they've managed to preserve the scrolls, which all things considered should have crumbled to dust by now.

And I started going to Gumdo again, whoooooo. I want to be able to move like the upper belts one day, but my body can't take it doesn't learn things quickly (example: I've been playing DDR for a year and still can't cross-step), so we'll have to see what happens with that.

...Yeah. I'm sorry, guys, for not keeping in contact D: I don't know what's wrong with me right now.

The end is uncertain
And I've never been so afraid
But I don't need a telescope to see that there's hope
And that makes me feel brave
